What they're saying...

Cristy Almendrales, Senior Midfielder, Field Hockey
President of SAAC

The Boston College Jesuit motto - "Men and Women for Others" is integral to the whole meaning and purpose of SAAC as the goals of all SAAC activities are to establish and develop the community of student-athletes to serve the broader communities of Boston College and beyond. Personally, SAAC has enriched my time at BC beyond belief and has shaped me into not only a better student-athlete but a better person. It has been such a great opportunity to give back to the community, create bonds with athletes from different teams and just have a lot of fun.

Bob Dirks, Senior Forward, Field Hockey
Vice President of SAAC
2007 All-ACC First Team

Being a part of SAAC has made a great impact on my experience at Boston College. It has given me the opportunity to step back from my busy, daily routine of class, practice, and traveling, and has offered me a chance to explore other interests and talents. I have learned that by doing something little, you can make a great impact on other people's lives. Being the Vice President of Community Service, I help to give other this same experience. In addition, it is a great way to get to know and interact with other Student-Athletes.

I will never forget one of my experiences during a HEAR (Help Educate through Athletic Responsibility) program. I went to the Horace Mann School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing for the second time. As I entered the classroom, the kids started yelling my name, showing "Bob" in sign language, and some even ran up to give me hugs. It confirmed that we can really make a difference.

Angela Pandolfo, Softball, Class of 2008
"I am extremely honored and thankful to be a part of the BC athletic family. I can't think of any other college in the nation that has an athletic program as devoted and spirited as ours. From the athletes, to the administrators, to the coaches...I have never been surrounded by such hardworking and committed people. I am proud to wear the maroon and gold colors for a school that has had a winning tradition for so many years."

Allison Anderson, Volleyball, Class of 2007
"Being able to interact with and give back to the community is a huge part of what makes being a BC student-athlete so special. Whether we're visiting the Franciscan hospital, participating in the HEAR program or playing with kids at the pen pal picnic, it's always rewarding to see how much of an impact BC athletes can have on the lives of kids in the community."

Daniel Zepp, Football, Class of 2007
"The continual building of a family here at Boston College, through players, administrators, and the community, is what I take the most pride in as a leader of the student-athletes."
