Coed Sailing Wins National Semi-Final

Geneva, N.Y. - The Boston College Coed sailing team won the Eastern Semi-Final of the ICSA Coed National Championships this past weekend hosted by Hobart and William Smith College. The race featured the top 18 teams in the country.
The Eagles got off to a very strong start in the regatta, winning three of the first four races. Two fouls in the third A Division race earned Brian Kamilar and Alden Reid a 15th-place finish and dropped the team to third at the end of the first day. Reed Johnson and Andrew Schneider sailed consistently on the first day, winning half their races.
The breeze lightened up on day two and Kamilar/Schneider sailed well in A Division, finishing no lower than seventh place. Adam Roberts and Carrie Amarante came on strong in B Division, scoring 10 points in their four races. The team effort was enough to regain the lead, beating out No. 1 St. Mary's College.
By winning the Eastern Semi-Final, the coed team has qualified for the Coed National Finals to be sailed in Newport, R.I., on June 2-4.
Over the past three weeks, the Eagles have won two Conference Championships - Coed and Women's - in addition to winning the Eastern Semi-Finals of the Coed Nationals. BC Sailing has qualified for the ICSA Women's Nationals on May 26-28 and the ICSA Coed Nationals Finals on June 2-4. This coming weekend, the coed team aims to qualify for the Team Racing Nationals at the Team Race Conference Championships at Brown.
In other competition this weekend, the Eagles were nearly perfect, winning the BU Trophy, the Geiger Trophy, and finishing second at the Southern Series at Salve Regina.
