CHESTNUT HILL, MA -
The Boston College sailing team won the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Associations Team Race Conference Championships this past weekend at Brown University. The team victory completes a sweep of all three conference championships - co-ed, women's, and team race.
The Eagles team of seniors Reed Johnson/Julie Howe, juniors Brian Kamilar/Andrew Schneider, and juniors Adam Roberts/Carrie Amarante got off to a slow start losing their first match to the University of Vermont. The team then proceeded to only drop one more race all day as the Eagles tied for first at the end of the first day.
Boston College would win seven straight races in the first round robin competition in Day two. The Eagles beat Tufts in the first match of the day and clinched the championship with a victory over Harvard. BC finished 11-1 on its way to the first Team Racing Championship since 1998.
The win earned Boston College sailing a berth in the ICSA Team Race National Championship on May 30-June 1 in Newport, Rhode Island.
