Baseball Falls to Florida Atlantic

March 4, 2007

Box Score

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Less than 24 hours after earning their first win of the season, the Eagles took on the Owls of Florida Atlantic once again, but dropped a 15-3 decision this afternoon at FAU stadium. With the loss, BC falls to 1-4 overall while FAU improves to 12-3.

Junior Adam Crabtree had a tough time in his first start for the Eagles, as he allowed five runs on six hits in 3 1/3 innings. BC would get on the board first, however, when Eric Campbell singled up the middle, scoring Ryan Hutchinson. The lead would be short lived though, as Crabtree surrendered a home run on just his second pitch in the bottom of the frame.

It wasn't until the fourth inning that the Owls broke open the contest with four runs on three hits, increasing their lead to 5-1. FAU added to its lead with runs in the next three innings, including a six run seventh, which included triples from Riaan Spanjer-Furstenburg and Travis Ozga.

BC could not muster much offense off of Owls' pitching as they would only score three times, one unearned, on seven hits.

The Eagles will look to get back on the winning track when they take on the University of Pennsylvania, Monday, March 5 at 12:00 p.m. in Boca Raton, Fla.
