BOCA RATON, Fla. - A two-out six-run rally in the sixth inning and three more runs in the ninth helped the Boston College baseball team defeat Florida Atlantic, 10-6, Wednesday night at FAU Stadium. The Eagles improve to 6-4, while the Owls drop to 6-4 on the season.

BC was led offensively by catcher Tony Sanchez and first baseman Michael Belfiore. Sanchez went 3-for-6, including a double and RBI along with throwing out two Owls' attempted base stealers. Belfiore went 3-for-5 with a run scored.

Marc Perdios added a hit a three runs scored and Barry Butera collected two base knocks to help BC split the two game series with FAU.

The Eagles pushed across a run in the first inning off a RBI single to right field by Sanchez.

BC starter Kevin Moran kept the Owls scoreless until the third inning. After retiring the first two batters, leadoff hitter Daniel Cook hit a base hit to right. Jeremy Griffiths followed by hitting a towering fly ball to center field that Perdios misjudged, which allowed Cook to come around and score, tying the game, 1-1.

The Owls broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth on a two-run homer run to left field by DH Tom Hatcher to give FAU a 3-1 advantage.

FAU extended the lead to 4-1 in the fifth on a RBI single by Mike McKenna.

The Eagles used a six-run outburst with two outs in the sixth, to take the lead, 7-4.

Owls' starter Chris Eberhart cruised through the first 5.2 innings before the right-hander fell into trouble. BC loaded the bases on back-to-back singles by Belfiore and Matt Hamlet and a key walk by Sam Shaughnessy. FAU would go to bullpen call on right-hander Chris Schmitt (0-1).

Robert Anston greeted Schmitt by hitting a full count two-run single to left field. Later in the inning, Butera came to the plate and laced a two-run single to right-center field to plate Shaughnessy and Anston. Sanchez was up next and hit a high chopper to third base that Daniel Cook made an errant throw to first on, allowing Perdios and Butera to score to give the Eagles the 7-4 lead.

The Eagles added three runs in the ninth, capped off by a sacrifice fly by Eric Campbell to make the score, 10-4.

The Owls scored twice in the ninth before Befiore retired the final two outs to close the game to earn his first save of the season.

Dave Laufer (1-0) earned the win relief of starting pitcher Kevin Moran. The win marks the first of his career.

BC opens its ACC schedule against Miami on Friday at 7 p.m.
