DURHAM, N.C. -The Eagles' bats woke up just in time for the ACC season as BC thumped Duke 10-2 this afternoon to complete the series sweep. The win is the Eagles' third in a row and improves their overall record to 5-6-1 and 3-0 in conference play. Duke falls to 15-4 and 0-3 in ACC action.

The Eagles would break a 2-2 tie in the eighth inning, scoring twice off of Blue Devils freshman Michael Seander to increase their lead to 4-2. Freshman Jonathan Foreman would relieve Seander in the top of the ninth, and BC would quickly relieve Foreman as they exploded for six runs on seven hits to solidify the 10-2 victory.

After two scoreless innings, the Eagles would get on the board first in the top of the third. Joseph Ayers would single down the right field line to start the inning and would advance to second when Johnny Ayers was hit by a pitch the very next at-bat. With two outs, third baseman Eric Campbell would double down the left field line putting BC ahead 1-0.

Duke would reclaim the lead in the bottom of the fifth when they got to starter Nick Asselin for two runs on three hits. The Eagles would tie the score in the top of the next frame, however, when catcher Jett Ruiz hit a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Jared McGuire.

BC held a 4-2 advantage until the top of the eighth, when they scored two runs off of Seander, who had come in to relieve starter Alexander Hassan, who pitched six innings, allowing only two runs on six hits.

Eagles starter Nick Asselin had a strong outing allowing only two runs on six hits while striking out six in seven innings of work. Junior Terry Doyle picked up his second save of the season as he closed out the Blue Devils in the eighth and ninth.

BC is back in action on Tuesday, March 14 when they take on the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Mass at 3:00 p.m.
