Box Score

Brookline, Mass. - Boston College used a five-run second inning, and a strong outing from starter Ted Ratliff to handle its crosstown rival, Northeastern, 10-1 in Brookline, Mass.

Shawn McGill and Eric Campbell started the second inning rally with singles. McGill scored on a bunt single and an error to give the Eagles an early 1-0 lead.

Two consecutive walks plated another run and loaded the bases for BC. A Ryan Hutchinson single drove in two runs, and a Jared McGuire sac fly made the score 5-0.

In the fourth, McGill singled and was thrown out attempting to reach second, but Ryan Akel followed and powered a home run to left to give BC a commanding 6-0 lead.

Ratliff was sharp, striking out six in 5.1 innings of work while surrendering only one run for his first win of the season. Nick Asselin and Kevin Boggan combined to shutout the Huskies the rest of the way.

BC added three more in the sixth on an RBI fielder's choice by McGuire, and a two-RBI single by Dave Preziosi who continued his hot hitting. Pete Frates capped off the scoring in the seventh with an RBI double, giving the Eagles the 10-1 win.

The Eagles will travel to Blacksburg, Va. for a three-game series with Virginia Tech this weekend.
