CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The No. 19 Virginia Cavaliers (18-4, 4-4 ACC) received a two-out single by Jarret Parker in the bottom of the 10th inning to defeat Boston College (9-10, 2-6 ACC) 5-4 on Saturday afternoon at Davenport Field.

Parker plated pinch-runner Corey Hunt from third base on single to right field on the first pitch he saw from BC reliever Chris Kowalski (0-1) to win the game for the Cavaliers.

Tony Sanchez went 3-for-4 with a triple and RBI and Eric Campbell tallied two hits, including a double, and two RBIs to lead the Eagles' offense.

BC received a strong performance on the mound from junior Dan Houston, who did not figure in the decision. The right-hander tied a career-high with 8.0 innings pitched and allowed three earned runs with seven strikeouts.

Neal Davis (1-0) earned the win in relief. The lefty tossed two scoreless innings with three strikeouts to earn his first victory of the season.

Virginia broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the third inning. Greg Milat started the rally with a one-out walk. Milat promptly stole second and would later score on a two-out single by David Adams.

BC tied the score on a RBI double by Eric Campbell in the fifth. Barry Butera led off the inning with a bunt attempt that UVa catcher Franco Valdes fired into right field, which allowed him to advance to second. After Cavaliers' starter Pat McAnaney retired Matt Hamlet and Sanchez, Campbell roped a double down the left field line to score Butera and tie the score, 1-1.

With one out in the sixth, Jeremy Farrell and Phil Gosselin hit consecutive doubles to give UVa the lead, 2-1.

In the top of the seventh, the Eagles pushed across two runs to take their first lead of the game, 3-2. Campbell plated Butera on a two-out single to left field. Pinch-hitter Robert Anston followed with a RBI double to left that scored Sanchez to give the Eagles a one run advantage.

The Cavaliers knotted the score, 3-3, in the bottom of the eighth on a bloop single to left field with two outs by Valdes that scored Dan Grovatt.

Hamlet started a ninth inning rally for the Eagles, with a leadoff single to right. After a wild pitch from Jake Rule moved Hamlet to second, Sanchez stroked a base hit to center field to retake the lead, 4-3.

Grovatt sent the game to extra innings in the ninth when he singled in Miclat with two outs. Grovatt hit a seeing-eye single through the right side off closer Chris Kowalski to even the score, 4-4.

After the Eagles were retired in order in the ninth, UVa won the game on a RBI single from Parker.

BC will play the third game of the series against the Cavaliers tomorrow at 1 p.m.
