CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - After a tough home opening loss yesterday afternoon, the Eagles looked to bounce bask with a win, but dropped a 10-1 decision to the Wolfpack this afternoon at Shea Field. The loss is the Eagles' second of the weekend and drops their overall record to 8-13-1 and 4-7 in conference play. NC State wins for the ninth time in its last 11 games, and improves to 21-8 overall and 7-4 in ACC action.

The Wolfpack quickly got to BC starter Nick Asselin for three runs on three hits in the top of the first inning to take a 3-0. But, the Eagles would quickly get one run back in the bottom of the frame.

NC State starter Andrew Brackman would hit leadoff man Johnny Ayers and then walk Ryan Hutchinson, putting the first two runners on. After a Jared McGuire strikeout, Ayers would steal second which followed by a double steal from Ayers and Hutchinson, pulling the Eagles to within two.

The Wolfpack came right back in the top of the second, getting to Asselin for four more runs on three hits, knocking him out of the game. With two outs in the inning, junior Ryan Pond hit a three run home run to left field, pulling NC State back ahead, 6-1. The Wolfpack would add another run after Caleb Mangum singled home Pat Ferguson making it 7-1.

Senior Nate Jeanes would replace Asselin in the third and pitch well in his first five innings of relief, striking out seven batters - nine in all. But, the Wolfpack would get to him in the eighth for three runs on five hits, extending their lead to 10-1.

Unfortunately, the Eagles could not muster any offense off of six-foot ten starter, Andrew Brackman, as he allowed only four hits through seven innings while striking out seven.
