Three Boston College baseball players -- juniors Eric Campbell and Dan Houston and senior Terry Doyle -- have been selected in the Major League Baseball Draft.
Houston, a right-handed pitcher, was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the seventh round. He finished the 2008 season with a 3-4 record and a 5.03 earned run average. He recorded 72 strikeouts and 40 walks in 73.1 innings of work.
Campbell, a third baseman, was selected by the New York Mets in the eighth round. He hit .306 in 53 games this spring. He finished first on the team in doubles (18), multi-RBI games (12) and second on the team in hits (64) and RBIs (41). He connected for six home runs.
Doyle, also a right-handed pitcher, was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 37th round. He finished the spring campaign with a 3-8 record and a 6.96 earned run average. He registered 73 strikeouts and 39 walks in a team-high 75.0 innings of work. The Warwick, R.I., resident was a 2007 draft choice of the Los Angeles Dodgers before electing to return to Boston College for his senior season.
