Johnny Ayers Earns 2007 All-ACC Academic Baseball Team Honors

Boston College right fielder Johnny Ayers has earned 2007 All-ACC Academic Baseball Team honors, according to a league announcement.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.

Ayers finished the season ranked second on the team with a .328 batting average. He played in and started 34 games and collected 21 runs batted in.

He is currently a member of the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox of the Cape Cod Baseball League. Through 18 games, he has recorded a .205 batting average and four RBI.

A finance major, Ayers is also a member if the BC football team. The Oakton, Va., resident has registered 37 consecutive starts at the team's punter.
