Mo Cassara is in his first season on the Boston College coaching staff. Cassara joins the Eagles after serving the last two years as head coach at Clark (Mass.) University.
Cassara comes to Boston College with a resume that includes head coaching experience at both the prep school and collegiate levels. He is best known to BC fans, however, as the former head coach at Worcester (Mass.) Academy, where he coached Craig Smith during the 2001-02 season. The Hilltoppers won a school-record 27 games that season.
Prior to his two-year stint at Clark, Cassara served one season (2003-04) as assistant coach at the University of Dayton. The Flyers earned a 24-9 record in his one season, winning the Maui Invitational title and gaining a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
Cassara also served as a collegiate assistant coach at two other institutions - one year at Washington & Lee (1997-98) and one year at The Citadel (1998-99).
In his four seasons as head coach at Worcester Academy (1999-2003), Cassara had an 90-21 record. In 2002-03, he guided the Hilltoppers to their first NEPSAC Class A title in 16 years.
A 1997 graduate of St. Lawrence University, Cassara played three seasons for the Saints, serving as the basketball team captain in his senior season.
A native of Canton, N.Y., Cassara earned his master's degree in higher education and administration from Boston College in 2002.
