April 15, 2008
Boston College will host Iowa in Conte Forum on Tuesday, Dec. 2 in the 10th annual Big 10-ACC Challenge. The announcement was made by the two conferences and by ESPN.
The game will mark the Eagles' third appearance in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. BC defeated Michigan State, 65-58, in Conte Forum on Nov. 29, 2006, and then defeated Michigan, 77-64, in Ann Arbor's Crisler Arena on Nov. 28, 2007.
Iowa has a 2-5 all-time mark in seven challenge contests.
The game will be just the second-ever meeting between BC and Iowa. In the teams' only previous meeting, the Eagles defeated the Hawkeyes, 86-81, on Dec. 30, 1974 in the Far West Classic in Portland, Ore.
For the fourth consecutive year, 11 schools from each conference will participate in pursuit of the Commissioner's Cup. ESPN and ESPN2 will combine to televise nine games, while ESPNU will carry the remaining two games.
The Atlantic Coast Conference has won the Commissioner's Cup in each of the previous nine years.
