Tribble Named National Defensive Player of the Week

Sept. 2, 2007

Boston College senior cornerback DeJuan Tribble was named National Defensive Player of the Week Sunday by the Walter Camp Football Foundation after tying a career high with three interceptions to lead BC to a 38-28 season-opening victory over Wake Forest.

In addition to his three interceptions (two of which came in the end zone), Tribble added seven solo tackles, including one for a loss.

This marks the second time a BC player has received the award in as many years. Last season, linebacker Jolonn Dunbar was named National Defensive Player of the Week after returning two fumble recoveries for touchdowns and registering 14 tackles against Maryland.

Junior running back Marlon Lucky from Nebraska was named National Offensive Player of the Week after he rushed for a career-best 233 yards (on 30 carries) and scored three touchdowns to lead Nebraska to a 52-10 win over Nevada.

Recipients of the award are selected by a panel of national media members administered by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.
