Robinson Takes Home Football's Scanlan Award; Herzlich Voted MVP

Dec. 14, 2008

Senior wide receiver Brandon Robinson received the Scanlan Award, the highest honor bestowed upon a Boston College football player, at the team's annual Scanlan Awards Banquet Sunday afternoon.

Robinson ranks fourth in program history with 138 receptions and his 1,983 career receiving yards rank seventh all-time in that category. The Scanlan Award is presented to the senior football player who excels on the field, in the classroom and in the community.

Junior linebacker Mark Herzlich, who last week was named ACC Defensive Player of the Year, was voted 2008 Most Valuable Player by his teammates.

Other award winners included BJ Raji (Gridiron Club Award); Clif Ramsey and Kevin Akins (Unsung Hero Award); Chris Crane, Ron Brace & Brian Toal (Coaches' Award); Ryan Purvis (Paul Cavanagh Award); Paul Anderson (Jay McGillis Scholarship Award); Robert Francois (Special Teams Award); Michael Stone and Max Holloway (Scout Team Award).
