Southern Pines, N.C. - The men's golf team opened up their season with the Mid Pines tournament in Southern Pines, N.C. The tournament was a two-day event hosted by UNC-Greensboro on Monday Sept. 12 and Tuesday Sept. 13. The Eagles placed 19th overall. Sophomore Bob Reed was the Eagle's top finisher, coming in at 24th overall. The tournament was a par-72 course and measured 6,528 yards.

Reed, who shot a 73 and 74 in the first two rounds, saved his best round for last shooting a 69. His two-day total came to 216, even par.

Sophomore Alex Snickenberger was the next to complete the course finishing tied for 37th overall. Snickenberger led the entire field in eagles, recording a tournament-high three.

Junior Tim Holden, sophomore James Granello and junior Phil Holden rounded out the top five for the Eagles. The Holden brothers finished with scores of 228 and 236, respectively, while Granello notched a 232.

The men's squad tees off next at the Towson Invitational on Monday Sept. 19, in Myersville, Md. The event is a two-day tournament.
