Men's Golf Records Fall At Treasure Coast Classic

Fort Pierce, Fla. - The Boston College men's golf team recorded one of its best performances at the Treasure Coast Classic, turning in a combined five-under-par performance and a third place finish on Thursday.

The Eagles, competing against six other teams in the tournament, shot a total score of 847 over three rounds. They tallied a third-round score of 277, the lowest round a BC team has ever shot. Their first and second round scores of 285 rank fourth all-time.

Freshman Robert DeMaio led the individual performances for BC, tying for third. He finished the tournament at eight-under-par, scoring 205. He shot a 65 in the third round, registering a school-best single round record. His score of 66 in the second round ties for second all-time.

Four other BC golfers finished the tournament under-par, another school record. Senior captain Robert Reed tied for eighth place, shooting a three-round score of 210 (three-under-par). Freshman Craig Kublin, sophomore Jan Prokop and senior Nick Lawler all tied for 10th place at two-under-par.

Bethune Cookman led the seven-team field with a combined 31-under-par performance. Individual champion Willie Mack led the team, shooting a 203 over the three rounds, finishing at 10-under-par.

The Eagles will return to action March 14 at the Shenkel E-Z-GO Invitational hosted by Georgia Southern in Statesboro, Ga. Competition will run through March 16.
