PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Juniors Benn Ferriero and Nathan Gerbe each scored first-period goals and freshman goalie John Muse stopped 34 shots to lead ninth-ranked Boston College in a 2-2 Hockey East tie with Providence in Schneider Arena.

In the league playoff picture, BC and PC remain tied for fourth place with 27 points apiece. There are two games left on their respective regular-season schedules and the Friars own the tiebreaker between the teams, having a 2-0-1 advantage in the season series.

PC sophomore Mark Fayne got the host Friars on the scoreboard first, netting his second goal of the season at 9:07 of the first period.

Ferriero and Gerbe responded with consecutive goals just 21 seconds apart to take a 2-1 edge. Ferriero scored the equalizer - his 12th of the season - at 13:27 and Gerbe tallied his 23rd of the year at 13:48.

PC junior Nick Mazzolini scored the lone second-period score - a power-play tally - just one minute, 35 seconds into the into the frame to even the game at two goals apiece for good.

The Friars outshot the Eagles, 36-31.

Senior goalie Tyler Sims made 29 saves.
