Eighteen days after winning the 2008 NCAA title in Denver, the Boston College hockey team was honored at the Massachusetts State House on Wednesday, April 30.

BC arrived at the foot of the State House building at 1:15 p.m., and proceeded to Governor Deval Patrick's office. There, head coach Jerry York, Director of Athletics Gene DeFilippo and the team presented honorary hockey jerseys to Patrick and Lieutenant Governor Tim Murray (each with his name and "08" on the back).

At 2:05 p.m., the team was escorted into Speaker of the House Sal DiMasi's office. In the office, York presented DiMasi, his classmate, a BC "DiMasi `67" hockey jersey before the team posed for a brief photo opportunity with select state representatives. The Eagles then entered the House of Representatives.

Speaker DiMasi, a 1967 Boston College graduate, then introduced the team to his chamber. DiMasi praised York and invited the coach to address the members.

York thanked Speaker DiMasi and all House members with a special acknowledgement for his representative Rachel Kaprielian of Watertown. York then introduced team captain Mike Brennan. The senior defenseman thanked Speaker DiMasi and the members of the House before proudly expressing his belief that the Eagles could well return for another House visit next spring. The poised captain received a thunderous ovation.
