Four BC Hockey Players To Attend U.S. National Junior Evaluation Camp

June 9, 2006

Four members of the 2006-07 Boston College hockey team - forwards Benn Ferriero and Nathan Gerbe, and defensemen Tim Filangieri and Carl Sneep - have been invited to attend the U.S. National Junior Evaluation Camp from August 5-14 in Lake Placid, N.Y.

Ferriero, Filangieri and Gerbe recently competed their freshman years at Boston College.

Sneep (Nisswa, Minn.), an incoming freshman, played at Brainerd High School. Following the Brainerd's hockey season, the 6-foot-3-inch defenseman joined the Lincoln Stars of the United States Hockey League. He played 13 games and registered four points - one goal and three assists - while finishing with a plus-three rating. He will enroll at BC in September 2006 and begin play during the 2006-07 season.

The four players are among 45 players invited to the camp, which will feature eight international scrimmages with a split squad of the best American players under the age of 20 facing off against Sweden and Finland. The first games will be played on August 8.

Gerbe is one of 11 invitees returning from the last year's U.S. National Junior team that finished fourth at the IIHF World Junior Championship.

Participating players are candidates for the 2006 U.S. National Junior Team that will compete in the 2007 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Junior Championship, Dec. 26, 2006-Jan. 5, 2007, in Mora and Leksand, Sweden.
