The Series Against Maine
Boston College and Maine are meeting for the 94th time in the all-time series that dates back to 1979; the Eagles hold a 49-38-6 advantage and have won each of the last four games. Last winter, BC earned a 4-3 overtime victory at Maine on Nov. 19 and defeated the Black Bears on consecutive February evenings to sweep the regular-season series. Additionally, BC beat Maine in the semifinals of the league tournament at TD Banknorth Garden in 2006. Maine earned its last win over Boston College on Feb. 18, 2006 -- a 3-1 victory at Alfond Arena. The BC senior class is 7-3-1 in 11 meetings over the last four seasons.

Whitney Honored As Rookie of the Month
Boston College freshman forward Joe Whitney earned Hockey East Rookie of the Month honors after recording league highs (among all Hockey East players) in points (11) and assists (eight) in six October games. Whitney registered multiple-point performances in four of BC's six contests, including each of the last three. The Reading, Mass., resident also leads all Hockey East players with eight points -- two goals and six assists-- in three league games. Last Friday, he recorded a career-high four points -- two goals and two assists -- in the team's 7-1 home victory over Merrimack (10/26).

Senior alternate captain Matt Greene recorded his first multiple-goal performance of his career in last Sunday's 4-2 win at Merrimack. Of Greene's three goals this season, two have represented the decisive score.
Freshman John Muse is the team's starting goaltender. He has recorded a 1.90 goals against average and a .930 save percentage.
The Coach
Jerry York is in his 36th season as a head coach and his 14th season at Boston College. The second winningest coach in NCAA history and first among active Division I coaches, York enters today's game with a 781-505-78 career record, including a 314-170-44 mark at Boston College ... He has guided the Eagles to numerous accomplishments, including seven Frozen Four appearances in the last 10 years, five Hockey East regular-season trophies (2000-01, 2002-03, 2003-04 and 2004-05), five Hockey East Tournament titles (1998, 1999, 2001, 2005 and 2007), and the 2001 national championship. A 1967 graduate of Boston College, York was a three-year letterman at the Heights and earned All-America and All-New England first-team honors in 1966-67.
The Coaching Staff
Associate head coach Mike Cavanaugh is in his 13th season on the BC staff (his 14th season with York; Cavanaugh spent the 1992-93 year on York's staff at Bowling Green) ... Assistant coach Greg Brown is now in his fourth season on the staff. Brown began his coaching career after completing a 12-year professional playing career. A 1990 Boston College graduate, Brown is one of the greatest players in Boston College hockey history. He is the school's only two-time Hockey East Player of the Year (1989 and 1990) and was inducted into the Boston College Varsity Club Hall of Fame in the fall of 2004 ... Assistant coach Jim Logue is in his 13th season on the Eagles' bench. Logue, who tutors the team's goaltenders, starred in net for the Eagles from 1958-61.
Last Time Out
Senior alternate captain Matt Greene scored twice while Nathan Gerbe and Benn Ferriero each scored one goal to lead fifth-ranked Boston College to a 4-2 Hockey East road victory over Merrimack. Seniors Dan Bertram and Pat Gannon and freshman Joe Whitney each recorded two assists for the Eagles, who improve their record to 3-1-2 overall and 2-0-1 in conference action.
Power Play
The Boston College power play is converting at a 25% rate (8-for-32), which ranks first in the conference and tied for sixth among national leaders. The Eagles have scored on the power play in three straight games and have converted twice in man-advantage situations in each of the last two victories.
