The Boston College men's track and field team finished eighth out of 36 teams at the New England Championship on Saturday, May 13. The Eagles earned 29.50 points overall to land in eighth. The event was hosted by MIT.
Mark Alizzi captured the New England Championship in the 10,000 meters in a season-best performance with a time of 30:45.62.
Christopher Caulfield finished eighth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.85. Caulfield edged Bates' Samuel Thomas by .04 seconds to garner points for the Eagles. Daniel LaFave ran a season-best in the 800-meter run, clocking in at 1:53.64.
Patrick Mellea and James LaGreca finished eighth and ninth in the 1500, while Corey Ahern completed the 5000 in 14:55.02 for sixth place.
The 4x400-meter relay team finished fourth in 3:21.1. Christopher Caulfield ran the lead leg, followed by Henry, LaFave and Sebastian Mansson ran the anchor.
Brendan Collins, Patrick Mellea, James LaGreca and Jeff Klatsky ran the 4x800 relay finishing fifth overall in 7:59.5.
Louis Canelli matched his season-best in the high jump. His 6-04.00 jump landed him in seventh place.
The NCAA Regional Championships will be held in Greensboro, N.C. on Friday, May 26, and Saturday, May 27.
