Boston College senior striker Sherron Manswell is one of more than 60 players invited to participate in the 2008 adidas MLS Player Combine in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Top collegiate and youth prospects will train and be divided into four teams -- one team to be coached by BC head coach Ed Kelly -- that will compete against one another from Jan. 11-15 in front of all Major League Soccer's coaches and scouts.
The Combine gives MLS coaches and general managers a final chance to evaluate talent in preparation for their draft day selections. MLS SuperDraft takes place on Jan. 18, in Baltimore, Md., at 2 p.m. The draft will be televised live on ESPN2 and can be viewed on MLSnet.com
Combine participation is by invitation only. A committee of NCAA Division I coaches from every conference, along with MLS representatives, chose seniors who have completed their college eligibility from schools throughout the country.
Manswell recorded a team-high 11 goals and 29 points during his senior season and earned National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas All-America third-team honors.
Additionally, Manswell totaled seven points - three goals and one assists - in three Atlantic Coast Conference tournament victories and earned 2007 ACC Tournament Most Valuable Player honors.
