Former Eagle Charlie Davies To Join U.S. National Team For June 2 Match Against China

May 31, 2007

Charlie Davies, the 2006 ACC Offensive Player of the Year and runner up for the Hermann Trophy, is one of 19 players that will prepare to take on China on June 2 in San Jose, Calif.

The match is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. EST and will broadcast live on ESPN2.

Davies, who is Boston College's single-season record holder for goals (15; 2006) and points (36; 2006), signed a professional contract with Hammarby of the Swedish Premier League in late December 2006.

He has been training with the U.S. National Team in Carson, Calif. this week.

Davies finished the 2006 fall season with BC as the ACC leader in several statistical categories, including points per game (2.25), goals per game (0.94) and game-winning scores (six).

He earned NSCAA All-America first-team honors.
