Swimming Splits with Dartmouth

HANOVER, N.H. - The Boston College men's and women's swimming teams split a dual meet against the Dartmouth Big Green on Friday evening. The men won in dramatic fashion taking the final event, 400-yard free relay, to capture the victory 152-148. The women were defeated by a score of 155-145.
The men's team improved its record to 5-3 overall, 0-1 in the ACC. The women dropped to 6-3 overall, 0-1 in ACC play.
On the men's side, the 400-yard free relay team of Dominick Boccio, Brett Bromann, William Schwitter and Alex Spaeth placed first in a time of 3:13.11, which edged out Darmouth's second place time of 3:14.02. The win proved to be the difference maker in the Eagles four-point victory.
John Maloy earned a trio of victories against the Big Green. Maloy placed first in the 200-yard medley (1:37.28), 500-yard free (4:43.52) and 1,000-yard free (9:47.59) events.
Spaeth and Boccio each took top honors in 50-yard and 200-yard free events. Spaeth placed finished the 50 free in 22.18 and Boccio ended the 200 free in 1:44.77.
Other winners on the men's side included Bromann (200-yard back) and Robert Swanninger (100-yard breast) for the Eagles.
The women's team was led by Caroline Byron, who placed first in three events. Byron took top honors in the 50-yard free (24.19), 100-yard free (52.92) and 200-yard free (1:55.39) on the evening.
Other winners for the women's team included Tanya Suryoutomo (100-yard back), Amy Bromann (200-yard back) and Valerie Crisp (200-yard breast).
The BC swimming teams host Williams College in a dual meet Sunday, Dec. 2 at 11 a.m.
