Men's Tennis Spring Trip a Success

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Boston College men's tennis team went 3-1 during its spring break trip to Florida, defeating Villanova, 5-2, Florida Gulf Coast, 6-1, and Fairfield, 7-0. The one loss came against South Florida, 7-0. The Eagles are now 5-7 on the season.

Thomas Nolan won his singles match at No. 1 and his doubles match with Adam Davison at No. 3 to help the Eagles defeat Villanova, 5-2.

Nolan defeated Brian Maher, 6-1 and 6-0, and teamed up with Davison to defeat Alex Lesser and Dave Shaheen, 8-4.

Other singles winners included Jason Sechrist at No. 2, Erik Kreutzer at No. 3 and Brendon Wong at No. 5.

Sechrist and Kreutzer teamed up to win the No. 1 doubles match, 8-5, while Sam Wagner and Brian Garber were victorious at the No. 2 doubles position with a 9-7 win.

BC 6, Florida Gulf Coast 1

The Eagles won five of six singles points and two of three doubles points to defeat Florida Gulf Coast, 6-1.

Nolan defeated Ervin Garibovic at the No. 2 spot, 3-6, 6-2 and 6-3. Kreutzer beat Danny Lee, 3-6, 6-0 and 7-6 at the No. 3 position.

Sechrist, Wong and Michael Vann rounded singles wins from positions No. 4 through No. 6 in the Eagles win.

Sechrist and Kreutzer won as the No. 2 doubles team against Lee and Garibovic, 8-6. Nolan and Davison contributed an 8-1 victory at the No. 3 position.

BC 7, Fairfield 0

BC swept all six singles matches and all three doubles pairings to down Fairfield, 7-0.

Alex Rastorgouev, Nolan and Kreutzer earned singles wins in spots No. 1 through No. 3. Rastorgoeuv defeated Ryan Berthod at the No. 1 spot, 7-5 and 6-3.

Sechrist, Wong and Vann all picked up wins in spots No. 4 through No. 6.

In doubles action, Garber and Wagner defeated Geroge Laffey and Rob Ferrante at the No. 1 position, 8-7 (8-6). Sechrist and Kreutzer won as the No. 2 team, while Davison and Nolan earned a victory in third doubles team slot.

South Florida 7, BC 0

South Florida swept every singles and doubles match to defeat the Eagles, 7-0.

Sechrist battled at the No. 4 singles spot. The senior dropped a third set tie breaker, 5-7, 6-3 and 1-0 (6).

Garber and Wagner had the best performance of the three doubles teams. The pair dropped an 8-5 decision at the No. 1 spot to Daniel Daudt and Thomas Estrada.

The next match for the Eagles is on March 15 against St. John's in Washington, D.C.
