Six Cross Country Student-Athletes Named to All-ACC Academic Team

Feb. 20, 2008

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Six Boston College cross country runners were named to the All-ACC Academic Team, the league's commissioner, John Swofford, announced late last week.

Senior captain Patrick Mellea and junior captain Tim Ritchie were honored for the first time on the men's team. Junior captains Mallory Champa and Nichole Lister garnered the award for the women, along with sophomore Jessica Driscoll and senior Jennifer Heyde. Champa earned the honor for the second time, while this is Lister's third time being honored.

Student-athletes are eligible for consideration if they earned a 3.00 grade point average from the previous semester and have maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during their academic career.

Wake Forest led the women's side with five runners named to the academic team. For the men, NC State collected a league-high four honors.

Both Mellea and Champa were named to the All-ACC squad during the cross country season.
