CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Senior guard Aja Parham was named to the 2005-06 ACC All-Defensive team, announced by the conference office Tuesday. Joining Parham on the defensive squad are Florida State's Alicia Gladden, North Carolina's La'Tangela Atkinson, Duke's Lindsey Harding and NC State's Ashley Key. The ACC All-Defensive team and Defensive Player of the Year are selected by the 12 ACC women's basketball head coaches.

Parham, a native of San Antonio, Texas, becomes the first Boston College player selected to the defensive team. The senior currently ranks ninth in the conference in steals per game, averaging 2.10 per game. Parham also ranks among the league's best in defensive rebounding, having pulled down 127 defensive boards (4.38 per game). She is sixth on BC's all-time career steals list with 163.

The 29th annual ACC Women's Basketball Tournament will take place at the Greensboro Coliseum, beginning on Thursday, March 2 and concluding on Sunday, March 5.
