The Boston College men's and women's track and field teams competed against other New England schools at the Brown Invitational on Sunday, April 30. Alison Fogarty and Kasey Hill each raced to a victory on the women's side and Joseph Lesniak landed in second place for the men's squad.
Alison Fogarty won the 400-meter dash in 56.91 seconds.
Kasey Hill, the school record holder in the heptathlon, finished fourth in the 100 with a time of 12.60 seconds. Hill won the 100-meter hurdles with Tiana Riel finishing second. In her third event of the day, Hill placed fifth in the long jump.
Nichole Lister and Mary Heitkamp finished second and third in the 800, respectively. Lister's time of 2:12.12 is a season-best.
In the 1500, Mallory Champa, Jessica Flinn and Nikki Tufts took second, third and fifth, as Champa recorded a season-best time.
Jessica Fazekas placed third in the shot put (40-04.00), fourth in the discus (129-09.00) and 10th in the hammer throw (130-00.00).
On the men's side, Samuel Phelps opened up the meet with a fifth-place finish in the 100, as he crossed the line in 11.31 seconds - a season-best. Phelps also clocked in at 23.23 in the 200 to land in eighth place.
Joseph Lesniak and David Emerson finished second and fifth in the 5,000 with times of 15:07.71 and 15:19.71, respecitvely.
Louis Canelli placed third in the high jump with a mark of six feet, 3.25 inches.
Benjamin Kocarnik was the fifth-place finisher in the pole vault, while Jim Unis placed second in the discus.
The men's and women's squads return to the track this weekend on May 12 and 13, at the New England Championship, hosted by Harvard University.
