The Boston College women's track and field team landed in ninth place at the New England Championships on Saturday, May 13. The Eagles completed against 36 schools from the New England region. The event was hosted by MIT.
Katherine Sherman finished second in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 14.48 seconds. Anne Hessberg was the third-place finisher in the steeplechase with a time of 10:44.2. Kristen Coon and Alexis Lake finished in eighth and 10th in the steeplechase.
Alison Fogarty collected points for the Eagles with a fourth place finish in the 400-meter dash. Fogarty crossed the line in 57.42 seconds.
Mary Heitkamp and Jennifer Heyde finished ninth and 11th in the 800. Heitkamp finished in 2:17.81, while Heyde finished in 2:18.72, a season-best.
Nikki Tufts shaved off nearly 15 seconds off her season-best in the 5000, clocking in at 17:33.67. Tufts landed in 10th place.
In the field events, Julie Regan finished sixth in the high jump. Regan jumped 5-05.00. In Sherman's second event of the day, the freshman jumped 5-03.00 to finish in a three-way tie for eighth.
The NCAA Regional Championships will be held in Greensboro, N.C. on Friday, May 26, and Saturday, May 27.
