Women's Ski Team Captures Regular-Season ECSC Crown

PAT'S PEAK, N.H. - The Boston College women's ski team won the regular-season Eastern Collegiate Ski Conference (ECSC) title after finishing second in the slalom competition at the Colby-Sawyer/St. Anselm's Carnival on Saturday, Feb. 18.
BC's second-place finish in Friday's giant slalom event and Saturday's slalom competition gave the Eagles a two-point margin over second-place Massachusetts in the ECSC regular-season standings.
Freshman Courtney Willson raced to a fourth-place finish in the slalom race on Saturday, posting a total time of 1 minute 40.17 seconds. Juniors Kara Hoisington (1:41.60), Courtney Culnane (1:42.27) and Courtney Hollis (1:44.71) finished eighth, ninth and 14th, respectively.
All four skiers earned top-15 finishes in the conference's individual regular-season standings. Highlighted by three third-place performances and one first-place finish, Willson captured a sixth-place overall finish. Culnane, Hollis and Hoisington finished seventh, ninth and 15th, respectively, in the conference's individual standings.
"These four have been consistently in the top 15 all season, a large factor in the women's win," first-year head coach Peter Endres said. "I was very pleased with how the women ended the season first in the league. They had to fight hard to maintain their lead this weekend over UMass, and coming into Saturday's slalom we only had a one-point lead."
Colby-Sawyer took first place in Saturday's slalom competition, as Massachusetts, Plymouth State and Smith rounded out the top five.
The ECSC's top five teams - Boston College, Massachusetts, Colby-Sawyer, Plymouth State and Brown - qualify for the ECSC Regionals, which will take place on Saturday, Feb. 25 (slalom) and Sunday, Feb. 26 (giant slalom). The top five teams from the ECSC Regionals qualify to race in the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) National Championships in Sugarloaf, Maine from March 6-11.
