CHESTNUT HILL, MA -
Boston College sophomore Gina DiMartino is one of 45 players placed on a watch list for the 2007 Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy. DiMartino is the second straight Boston College women's soccer player to be named to the list as defender Laura Georges made the watch list and semifinal list in 2006.
The award is widely regarded as the country's most prestigious individual honor for women's collegiate soccer players. The list, announced by the Missouri Athletic Club, was compiled by a panel of coaches from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
Players are selected to the watch list by a committee of NSCAA Division 1 coaches. In November, a list of semifinalists will be announced, with three finalists announced in early December. The finalists will be invited to the Missouri Athletic Club on Friday, January 11, 2008.
The ACC Rookie of the Year, DiMartino scored 13 goals and had five assists for 31 points in 2006. She had four game-winning goals and scored in 11 of the 22 matches. A second-team All-ACC honoree, DiMartino also earned NSCAA All-Region third-team honors and Soccer Buzz Northeast Regional All-Freshman team honors. DiMartino is just coming off a trip with the Under-20 Women's National team which placed second at the Pan-American games in Brazil.
