CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College women's tennis team captured its first win of the season by defeating Columbia, 6-1, Sunday afternoon.

The Eagles swept the doubles matches and took five out of six singles matches to up its record to 1-1 on the season.

Lana Krasnopolsky defeated Nina Suda, 6-2, 6-0 at the No. 1 match up in singles play. Krasnopolsky teamed up with Gia Nafarrete in doubles to defeat Sydney Murray and Natalia Christianson, 8-3 at the No. 3 spot.

Katharine Attwell earned her first match win of her career, defeating Natasha Makarova, 6-2, 7-5 at the No. 5 slot. She partnered with Alina Sullivan to defeat Stefanie Zilberman and Lauren Shearer, 8-6 at the No. 2 doubles position.

Dasha Cherkasov, Lauren Cash and Sarah Svoboda all earned singles wins for the Eagles. Cherkasov and Cash teamed up to win an 8-6 decision in doubles.

The next match for the Eagles is on Feb. 8 against Brown in Providence, R.I. The match is scheduled for 5 p.m.
