Women's Tennis Falls To North Carolina at ACC Championships

April 20, 2006

Cary, N.C. - The Boston College women's tennis team closed out its season with an opening round 4-0 loss to No. 7 ranked North Carolina in the ACC Championships in Cary, N.C.

Jenna Long and Sara Anundsun, the No. 5 ranked doubles tandem in the nation, earned an early win over BC's No. 1 duo of Lana Krasnopolsky and Dasha Cherkasov. The Tarheels would close out the doubles point when Tanja Markovic and Caitlin Collins defeated Szilvia Szegedi and Alina Sullivan.

UNC would take three singles matches to close out the match, with Anundsun's 6-0, 7-5 win over Krasnopolsky providing the clincher.

The Eagles finish the season with a record of 7-13 overall, with wins over ranked opponents Tulsa and Sacramento State, and 0-11 in the ACC. As a team, BC ended the regular season ranked No. 75, while Szegedi and Krasnoplsky were individually ranked for the majority of the season.
