BC vs. Quinnipiac Box Score
QUEENS, N.Y. - The Boston College volleyball team finished off an impressive weekend sweep this afternoon by blanking the Quinnipiac Bobcats, 3-0.
The Eagles cruised to 5-1 on the season while the Bobcats dropped to 0-3.
BC looked to seal its fifth consecutive win on the season after losing its opening match to Buffalo last weekend. The Eagles got the show started off early when they recorded one of their most dominant performances of the year by winning the first set, 25-12. The team tallied an impressive 14 kills and a game high hitting percentage of .414 during the frame.
The Eagles continued their strong play in the second set to move ahead 2-0 in the match. Although Quinnipiac improved on their hitting from the first set, BC's game high 15 kills were enough to move it through the frame and win it by a score of 25-20.
Boston College put the finishing touches on a fantastic trip to New York in the third set by finishing off the Bobcats once and for all, 25-21. The team's 14 kills and .216 hitting percentage proved to be the difference as it stormed through to win its third match in two days.
Junior Melanie Cimino led the Eagles' attack with 9 kills while freshman Krissy Mussenden added 31 assists for her teammates. Sophomore Tsvetelina Dureva also provided power on offense by tallying a team high four service aces for the match.
The defense continued to be rock solid, aided by sophomore Brennan Clark's 17 digs and sophomore Mollie Kolosky and Dureva's one block each.
The Eagles will have another week's worth of practice ahead of them before they travel to Worcester, Mass. next weekend to take on Northeastern University and Holy Cross.
