Omaha, Neb. - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced the recipients of its 26th annual AVCA Division I All-America Teams today and senior co-captain Allison Anderson has been named to the 2006 AVCA Division I All-America Honorable Mention. This marks the first time that a Boston College volleyball player has earned All-America accolades.
Anderson who hails from Moraga, Calif., is one of 10 players from the ACC to be named. She recently earned All-ACC First-Team honors for the second consecutive year as well as being named to the AVCA All-Region East Team.
Anderson was placed on the AVCA's 2006 Division I 30-Dig Club four times this season, including a five-game match against Connecticut where she had a season-high 38 digs.
She led the Eagles and the ACC with 5.54 digs per game, and also posted a 6.09 digs per game average in conference play, which also led the league. Anderson finished the year ranked 29th in the nation in digs per game.
In addition to Anderson, nine other student-athletes from the ACC were named to 2006 AVCA Division I All-America Honorable Mention.
