  • Women Take Third At Regional Championship

    INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field Committee announced that the Boston College women's cross country team earned an at-large bid to the 2008 NCAA Championship on November 24 in Terre Haute, Ind. It marks the fourth-straight season that the Eagles will compete at nationals.

    Indiana State is serving as the host of the championship event. The race will be held at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center in Terre Haute. Admission to the event is $5 and gates will open at 9 a.m. The women's 6k race will begin at 12:08 p.m.

    Thirty-one teams are selected overall, with the top two teams from each region earning the automatic bid and 13 other teams selected at-large. The women will take a full seven-runner team to the championship on November 24.

    BC ran to a third place finish at the NCAA Northeast Regional on Saturday. Senior Mallory Champa placed third overall in the race which was the best finish for her at regionals in her four-year career.

    Senior Nichole Lister finished ninth and junior Jessica Driscoll placed 21st. Both of them joined Champa on the All-Region team.
